Eagle River is a small, friendly town, located just north of Anchorage. Choosing to live in Eagle River, Alaska, is choosing to enjoy the benefits of a smaller community, while being only minutes from all the amenities of the larger city of Anchorage. In fact, Eagle River is part of the Municipality of Anchorage, so police and fire protection are provided by the Anchorage Police Department & Anchorage Fire Department, respectively. Some areas outside of the AFD's jurisdiction are served by local volunteer fire departments. Likewise, public schools in Eagle River are part of the Anchorage School District.
